During today's press conference, Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of Polski Standard Płatności (Blik's operator), presented transaction statistics for the second quarter of this year. As it turns out, in the period from April to June, Blik users made 97.4 million operations of various types with it. This is 97 percent. more than in the same period last year and more than in the whole of 2018.

As in previous periods, and in Q2 2020, Blik was most often used for online payments. Their share in the entire transactionality of the system is 74.9%. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, the number of Blik online transactions increased by 110%. P2P transfers (to the recipient's phone number) are second most popular. In the last quarter, there were 10.6 million of them, 194 percent more than in the same period last year.

When it comes to payments with Blik in terminals, in Q2 this year there were 8.4 million of them, i.e. 68 percent. more than a year ago. On the other hand, the smallest share in Blik's transactions are transactions in ATMs. In the last quarter, 5.5 million of them were recorded, which is 8 percent less than in the previous year. It is worth noting, among others due to the fact that at the time when Blik was entering the market, it was cash withdrawals that were the function most often used by Blik users

Thus, the PSP data shows that the average daily number of transactions exceeded one million for the first time and in Q2 amounted to 1.07 million. The value of all operations with Blik in this period amounted to almost PLN 13.2 billion, and the number of active users of the system exceeded 5.4 million.

During the conference, Dariusz Mazurkiewicz referred to the issue of the contactless payments made available by the system, which is possible thanks to cooperation with Mastercard. He stated that the work on it is advanced, but did not reveal the timing of such a feature. Let me remind you that in the fall of last year, it was declared that the contactless Blik would appear at the latest in Q2 2020. This deadline was not met and, according to unofficial information from cashless.pl, now the real date of such implementation is Q4 2020. or even Q1 2021.
