So far, Nest has offered customers aged 13-17 a plastic debit card
Nest has a new feature for teenagers. Nest's Independent Account (Konto Samodzielne) users aged 13-17 can order a virtual Visa debit card. The card can be activated in the bank's mobile app after logging into the account. The teenager can use the card once the parent has set transaction limits. The carer will be informed of this by a push message in their app.
The virtual card can be added to digital wallets to make contactless payments in shops and services. It is also suitable for payments in online shops—the details needed for this are in Nest mobile banking. It also allows access to cash—the teenager can use it to withdraw from contactless ATMs. Issuing and using the card, just like with a plastic card, is free of charge.
More and more banks are opting to issue cards in virtual form. This has its advantages, as such cards can be activated as soon as they are issued and are also cheaper. There are also environmental considerations - no plastic means no additional waste. Unfortunately, virtual cards do not always work. Still not all ATMs have a contactless function, so a virtual card cannot be used to withdraw cash from such a device. In addition, although there is no problem with this in Poland, many terminals in some parts of the world do not support contactless transactions. To pay at such places, you need to insert a plastic card into the device.
