ITSCare will use electronic seals supplied by Signius
Polish fintech Signius will provide German company ITSCare with an electronic document sealing solution. The German entity is a subsidiary of AOK, the largest health insurer on that market. As stated in the press release, the Signius tool will be used to process the documents of more than 27 million policyholders, and up to one million documents per month are expected to be sealed using this technology.

The insurer will use qualified electronic seals, which are recognised in the European Union as a way for legal entities such as businesses, public limited companies and public institutions to sign documents. The solution provided by Signius replaces cards and card readers with a hardware security module that can be operated in the company's own data centre and is certified as a qualified seal creation device (QSCD) in accordance with the European Union's eIDAS regulation. This technology makes it possible to seal documents such as incapacity certificates, claims for additional reimbursements, invoices for reimbursed therapies or treatments.

"For a long time, we were limited by the small number of smart card readers physically connected to the hardware, the sensitive connectivity, the demanding monitoring of the devices and the long deployment time of a card-based solution. Now we are not only eliminating regular on-site deployments. We are also saving time by being able to simply and easily, yet securely seal documents in systems that we are familiar with", comments ITSCare's Heiko Klenk.
